خلاصه مقاله: Objective: COVID-19 disease as a pandemic has affected the whole world. Many researchers are trying to find a treatment for this disease. COVID-19 disease affects various organs of the body that can be diagnosed by laboratory tests.
Methods: 147 patients of Bou-ali and Amir-almomenin Hospitals in Tehran, Iran, participated in this retrospective study who 101 patients died and 46 patients survived and discharged of the hospital. This study was performed between April 20 and August 22, 2020. The COVID-19 infection in participated was confirmed by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) gene detection in respiratory specimens with real-time reverse transcriptase polymerase chain-reaction (RT-PCR). The laboratory finding and demographic characteristics were collected from patient’s medical records.
Results: The mean age of all patients were 55±13.87 years and in discharged patients was 52.15±14.50 years and dead patients was 56.42±13.44 years (without any significant difference), BMI in dead patients was more than survived patients (p=0.001), hemoglobin in dead patients decreased (p=0.003) and PLT increased (p=0.03). CRP (p=0.001) and LDH (p=0.08) in dead patients increased and O2 saturation decreased in this group. Troponin (p=0.027), creatinine (p=0.003), blood glucose (p=0.041), in dead patients were higher than survived patients. There were no significant differences in plasma levels of D-Dimer, fibrinogen, urea, amylase, AST and ALT between discharged and died patients.
Conclusions: Since the Covid-19 infected patients suffer from multi organ failure and many of them can be diagnosed by laboratory tests, so the laboratory finding can predict the organ failure in COVID-19 patients and help the specialists to prevent death.
