روش کار

sixty healthy male employees from a dairy factory were recruited using random sampling method.The selected subjects had no history of debilitating diseases, musculoskeletal disorders and orthopedic limitations that would preclude intense exercise testing. Study design consisted of completion of checklists containing personal data, anthropometric measurements ( height, weight, and body mass index) and evaluation of job ability, maximum aerobic capacity along with the cognitive ability (reaction time, etc) of the participants using work ability index (WAI) standard questionnaire, Queen’s college step test and psycho-motor vigilance test (PVT) respectively. Finally, descriptive statistics and independent t-tests, analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Pearson correlation were used to analyze the data. All statistical tests were performed using SPSS version 22 and P0.05 was considered as a significant level.

یافته‌ها

The mean values of VO2max, Reaction time and WAI of workers were 45.54±6.13 mL/kg/min, 337.82 ± 29.93 ms and 42.76 ± 5.02 respectively. Based on the Pearson correlation test, a weak statically significant correlation was observed between PVT and VO2 max (r = 0.3, p= 0.02) as well as PVT and physical work capacity (PWC) (r = 0.263, p =0.04). The findings of this study showed that there was a significant relationship between height, weight, body mass index, reaction time and error percentage with maximal aerobic capacity (VO2max). By calculating the employees' VO2max and considering their age range in accordance with cardiopulmonary fitness requirements, the cardiovascular fitness of all employees was rated "good." Moreover, based on the coding system of work activities, the difference in the amount of required standard energy, which is calculated according to the resting metabolic rate, was obtained from the average working capacity of the employees. On the basis of this, the physiological discrepancy between the nature and characteristics of the service personnel and security guards was observed.

نتیجه‌گیری

According to the physiological criteria, the employees’ capabilities and job requirements are not in balance; particularly for those working in laboratory, office or service departments. Therefore, using standardized recruitment tests, providing sport facilities and developing integrated indicators that simultaneously take into account the physical, mental and environmental capabilities of the workers in order to determine work capacity, is a principal element of establishing an ergonomic balance in this workplace.
